For UNTH

University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital

The application window shifts yearly but often between May and August. (May in 2009, July/August in 2010). Usually preference is given to best 30 (home) graduating doctors, who are exempted from the interview. However the rest slug it out in an interview- written and oral.

The oral interview is especially important, and one may need to know about the Berlin Wall, the Great Wall of China or the name of Obama's dog (for that matter). Otherwise, man-no-man may come handy.

Usually applicants need to pick forms at the CMD's and enclose the usual- passport photographs, credentials and all other requirements as stated.

Other points:

The biggest hospital in the South-east. With 160+ HO staff strength, one is bound to have some little personal time, while being drilled "to move stuff", which may be come of advantage if Primaries is part of the plans to execute during house job. The hospital has since been moved to the new site, Ituku-Ozalla, just outside Enugu. There is a whole new block of bungalows for HO residence. Shuttling from Enugu town might be such a stressful undertaking, and aside from the in-hospital accommodation none exists within the Ituku-Ozala village.
